Kestel sits about 8 kilometres east of central Alanya, on the shore directly across from Alanya Castle. It is known for the cold Dim River coming down from the Taurus Mountains and for its castle-view coastline; close to the centre but quieter, with mostly residences and apartments. Antalya Airport (AYT) is around 135 kilometres away; Gazipasa Airport (GZP) is only about 25 kilometres. Your driver meets you at the airport with a name sign and takes you straight to your door — fixed price, no waiting.

Kestel is a coastal neighbourhood of Alanya, about 8 kilometres east of the centre. The most striking thing about its location is that it sits directly across from Alanya Castle; when you come down to the shore you see the castle and the peninsula from the opposite side. This view stands out most at sunset.
Even the name tells the area's history. The Yoruk (nomad) people used to spin sheep and goat wool with a tool called a "kesten" and sell it; the people known as "Kestenliler" eventually turned the name into Kestel. Today it is quieter than central Alanya, dominated by residences and apartments, and home to many long-term foreign residents. Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University's main campus is also in Kestel, so alongside summer holidaymakers you see students and year-round foreign residents. Morning minibuses to the campus and evening families on the seafront share the same street.
The Dim River in Kestel: Cold Water From the Taurus
The first place that comes to mind in Kestel is not on the coast but on the mountain side: the Dim River. Rising in the Taurus Mountains, it runs ice-cold all year through the valley behind Kestel. On a hot summer day, going down to the riverbank is the favourite break of a Kestel holiday.
Put Your Feet in the Water, Then Eat: The Dim River Platforms
Along the Dim River there are restaurants built on and beside the water, with low wooden platforms instead of ordinary tables. People sit cross-legged on the platforms over the stream; many put their feet in the cold running water and order trout, gozleme and tea. The water is so cold you can rarely keep your feet in for more than a few minutes, even in summer. Coming here to cool off in the midday heat is one of Alanya's oldest summer habits.
Looking Across to the Castle
Kestel beach faces Alanya Castle from across the bay. The best moment is late afternoon: as the sun drops behind the castle the peninsula turns into a dark silhouette, and people at the seafront cafés take out their phones for the same shot. The beach is about four and a half kilometres long, with a mix of sand and pebbles, so water shoes help when you go in. The public beach is free, and the tidy hotel beach areas run along the shore too.
A Day in Kestel
On summer mornings you see runners and cyclists along the seafront path: the long shore route runs from Kestel towards Alanya, and many ride it before the heat. Some swim early across from the castle; the sea is calmer until midday. When the midday heat sets in, many leave the beach and head up to the Dim River, putting their feet in the cold water and having lunch on the platforms.
In the late afternoon the Kestel seafront comes alive again; the cafés in front of the castle silhouette fill up. Those after nightlife reach central Alanya in a few minutes for the bars around Cleopatra Beach and the Marina. With the centre this close, Kestel's own evenings stay quiet; that is why many guests stay a month rather than a week here, and some return to the same apartment every year.
Around Kestel: Mountain, Plateau and Cave
Behind Kestel rises the mountain, so nature is as much a part of the area as the sea. Dim Cave sits above the Dim River on the slope of Cebireis Mountain; at a steady 18°C all year, about 360 metres of its stalactite- and stalagmite-filled passage can be visited. From the cave's viewing terrace you can see Alanya Castle and the Mediterranean. It is known as the first cave in Turkey opened to tourism by a private enterprise.
Reached via the Kestel road, the Gokbel Plateau keeps Yoruk culture alive; in summer some locals move up there. Further on, the Sapadere Canyon and Cuceler Cave can make a separate day trip. All of these are a short drive from Kestel; we can arrange a fixed-price transfer for these trips too.
Local Flavours in Kestel
In Kestel the table has two sides: fish and Mediterranean cuisine by the sea, and trout, gozleme and barbecue by the Dim River. At the riverside places you can spend the day over a long lunch with the sound of the cold water.
Since central Alanya is close, local flavours are easy to reach: Alanya's famous ice cream, tropical fruit like bananas and avocados, and local cheese and olive oil at the weekly markets. The Kestel market sells seasonal fruit, homemade jam and spices.
Tips for a Kestel Holiday
A few small details make things easier when you come to Kestel:
- Tip: The nearest airport to Kestel is Gazipasa (GZP, ~25 km). If you land at Gazipasa the transfer is short; if you land at Antalya (AYT) the drive is around two hours. Tell us which airport you arrive at when you book.
- Tip: Kestel has many residences and apartments; share the full address and your block/flat number if any. Central Alanya, Mahmutlar and Kestel can be confused, so a clear address sets the route.
- Tip: The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles; water shoes help if you go in. If you head to the Dim River, remember the water is very cold.
- Tip: Mention a child seat in advance. The one child seat is free, extra seats at a fair charge with us; just note it in your booking.
Antalya and Gazipasa Airport to Kestel: Distance and Time
Kestel has two airport options. Antalya Airport (AYT) to Kestel is about 135 kilometres, a drive of roughly 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours — for anyone asking how far Kestel is from Antalya airport and how long the transfer takes: about 135 km and two hours from AYT, but only ~25 km and half an hour from Gazipasa (GZP). Gazipasa Airport (GZP) to Kestel is only about 25 kilometres / 30-40 minutes; it is the nearest airport to Kestel.
The road from AYT passes Antalya and runs east along the coast towards Alanya, reaching Kestel just after the centre. It is scenic but long; a spacious, air-conditioned car makes a clear difference after a long flight. From Gazipasa the drive is short and quick, so your holiday begins almost as soon as you land.
Our Vehicles
Guests coming to Kestel include couples, long-staying families and groups settling into a residence, so the car is chosen by luggage and belongings as much as by passenger count. For two to four people, the Mercedes Vito Maybach First Class or Vito Business Class seats up to 5 comfortably; for larger families and groups, the Mercedes Sprinter Group Comfort and Group Business offer room for up to 13 with generous luggage space. For a family transfer with children, cabin space and luggage room make the real difference, and we account for the extra suitcases of a long stay.
Every car has free Wi-Fi, water and one child seat free, extra seats at a fair charge, with an infant seat for babies and a booster for older children on request at booking. Just note any infant seat, child seat or booster in your booking; the air conditioning makes the long AYT drive more comfortable.
Return Transfer in Kestel
When the holiday ends, the way back should feel just as easy. Our Kestel airport transfer works both ways: on departure day your driver picks you up at your door and works out the pickup time from your flight and the length of the road. We plan the departure time separately depending on whether you fly from Gazipasa (GZP) or Antalya (AYT); since GZP is close, the road that way is very short. There is no need to call a separate company for the hotel to airport leg.
The round trip is arranged in a single booking — one WhatsApp message is enough. No prepayment: you pay the same fixed price to the driver in the vehicle on the way back too. We ask for no money upfront and no card details. You pay the driver at the end of the ride, once you're happy with the service — so you never worry "did I lose my money?", the risk is not on you. Wondering if the transfer waits if your flight is delayed? Your driver tracks the flight and waits at no extra cost. Even on late-night landings there is no night surcharge, and After a long flight you won't search the crowd for a driver: our airport greeter waits at the exit holding a name sign with your name and walks you straight to your vehicle.
How to Get From the Airport to Kestel
There are a few ways to reach Kestel:
- Private VIP transfer: Straight to your door, no waiting, fixed price. A meet and greet with a name sign is included, and we deliver to the exact address of residences and apartments.
- Bus: From AYT you first go to Antalya, then an Alanya bus, then a Kestel minibus; that takes hours with luggage and children.
- Taxi: Available, but over the long AYT distance the taxi fare climbs steeply on the meter with no fixed-price guarantee. With us the price is set upfront, with no hidden fees. We also do not run shared shuttles; we offer only your own private VIP transfer.
